Corinne Smith, Esq.
Corinne Smith is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the Investigations, Compliance and Defense Practice. She has experience in government-initiated investigations as well as criminal and civil litigation matters. Ms. Smith also maintains an active pro bono practice.
Ms. Smith has experience on matters spanning industries including banking, broadcast television, cable and telecommunications, energy and aviation. Ms. Smith has also represented clients in state- and federal-regulator as well as antitrust investigations, civil litigation involving breach of contract claims and criminal appellate matters.
Ms. Smith has significant pro bono experience. She first-chaired a five-day bench trial in DC Superior Court, obtaining a favorable settlement for her client against an eviction claim and winning a dismissal of the landlord’s claim that her client had violated the settlement agreement. Ms. Smith has also contributed to merits briefing in the Supreme Court in two successful matters involving criminal procedure and criminal tax issues and argued a direct criminal appeal in the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Ms. Smith received her BA, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. She received her JD in 2014 from Harvard Law School, where she served as an executive editor of the Harvard Law Review and a Teaching Fellow in American Constitutional Law.
Prior to joining Jenner & Block, Ms. Smith clerked for Judge Allyson K. Duncan of the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Judge Christopher R. Cooper of the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
